Das Manuelle an der Fotografie ist für mich von zentraler Bedeutung: Durch die Ursprünglichkeit des haptischen Umgangs mit ihr wird die Fotografie der Zeit entrückt. Ob es die Konzeption und Erstellung von Lochkameras und Fotoobjekten ist, das Eingreifen in den Entwicklungsprozess in der Dunkelkammer oder das Experimentieren mit Edeldruckverfahren, immer steht die unmittelbare physische Erfahrung mit der analogen Fotografie im Mittelpunkt.
Das Archaische wird in der Serie „antyKONCEPYJNE“ durch das Fotogramm ausgedrückt, eine kameralose Belichtungstechnik, die zu den ersten Erfindungen im Bereich der Fotografie zählt, zur Fotografie noch vor der Fotografie. Bei meinen Arbeiten wurde silberhaltiges Papier über sehr lange Zeiträume (3 Monate bis zu 4 Jahre) belichtet. Mit einer Überdosis an Licht entstanden teils vielfarbige Bildebenen, die beispielsweise als Scherenschnitt von der spielerischen Freude an diesem Medium zeugen.
For me, the manual aspect of photography is of key importance: through the nativeness of this haptic approach the photo seems to fall out of time. Be it in the conception and making of pinhole cameras and photographic objects, intervention in dark room developing, or experimentation with high quality printing processes, a direct physical experience with analogue photography is always at the centre of the work.
The series ‘antyKONCEPYJNE’ expresses the archaic by means of the photogram, a camera-less exposure technique that was one of the first inventions in the field of photography – a form of photography before photography. In my work paper that contained silver was exposed for very long periods of time (3 months to 4 years). Such an over-exposure of light resulted at times the emergence of multi-coloured image layers. For example as paper cuts this series reveals the playful nature of this medium.
